We all know what Bollywood dancing is – you’ve seen it on TV or at the movies, and now it’s time to learn how to do it yourself! Your hen party is the perfect chance to try something different, and our Bollywood dance classes are always fun and adventurous.
Your class will be led by experienced Bollywood dancers who will have all the right music on hand to show you their routines. We’ll provide the venue and a selection of bangles so you can look the part while you shake along to the rhythm. You’ll soon be feeling like a Bollywood movie star as you ‘twist the lightbulb’ and ‘pat the dog’. You’ll feel your confidence grow with each new move learned and you’ll soon be posing like an Indian princess. If you’ve ever fancied having a go at the dance sections in Slumdog Millionaire or Bride and Prejudice, a Bollywood hen night is the perfect opportunity to learn how!
Those who attend our Bollywood dance class normally dance in bare feet to keep it traditional, but you can wear ballet pumps or trainers if you prefer – whatever’s most comfortable for you. We advise you to wear leggings or shorts and a t-shirt, as these will allow you to move around more freely.
You’ll be learning a selection of Bollywood dance types. Bhangra is perhaps the best known of the Bollywood dance styles in the UK, but your class leaders will also teach you some lesser known styles, such as Bharatanatyam and Kathak. They’ll also show you how Bollywood dancing encompasses hip-hop, jazz and other Western dance styles.
Don’t worry if you have two left feet and can’t dance for toffee – our Bollywood hen party are supposed to be fun, and no one’s judging you. This is a light-hearted taste of an activity you might never normally try, so have a laugh and enjoy yourself. You can always concentrate on the hand movements, which will make you look elegant no matter what your feet are doing!
However your routine turns out, you can take photographs and have your final performance videoed as a great keepsake and reminder of your very own Bollywood hen night.
